Note:
The proposed project seeks to establish a foundation for human capital exchanges between El Paso Electric (EPE) and The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) to build a stronger collaborative educational community in the Paso del Norte region with a strong emphasis on electric power industry needs. In order to achieve the goal of the project, both parties have agreed to host a series of exchanges that will provide students of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department within the College of Engineering at UTEP and EPE employees an opportunity for cross-education. This innovative exchange program will take place over the course of an academic year and will include the participation of EPE personnel as guest lecturers for two courses: (1) Smart Grid Fundamentals (Fall 2021) and (2) Power Systems Operations (Spring 2022) courses. Additionally, EPE will host at least two facilities tours, one for each course, with the goal of exposing students to industry settings and standard practices. Furthermore, UTEP will design and facilitate three workshops that will be tailored to different categories of employees at EPE with a tentative schedule to deliver the workshops during the Summer of 2022.
