The overall objective of this study is to delineate the impact of the calf management system (dairy vs. beef) on liver abscess development to test the hypothesis that early life management rather than genetics is a greater contributor to liver abscess susceptibility. A secondary objective of this research is to identify biomarkers to provide insight into liver abscess pathogenesis -- SAMs 1.1.1
