Note:
We will conceive a common approach for the total synthesis of neuroactive picrotoxanes, dendrobines, and corialactones using gamma-hydroxy-carvone as starting point. Since the reported method for the preparation of gamma-hydroxy-carvone are only efficient in small scale, an efficient and scalable protocol for the preparation of this key starting material for complex molecule synthesis will be reported allowing easy access to multigram quantities. Late-stage catalytic C–H functionalization will be exploited to complete the synthesis of the target compounds.
