Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; There is a critical need for a community-wide micromobility and urban data sensing testbed. This project will design, develop, deploy and manage a community research infrastructure called ScooterLab, comprising of a highly customizable fleet of micromobility vehicles such as dockless e-scooters, operating within the campuses of an urban-serving university such as the University of Texas at San Antonio. Besides providing a convenient and (environmentally) cleaner mobility option to its participants, vehicles in such a testbed would serve as an excellent instrument to crowd-sense data related to riders mobility, context and environment, not only enabling novel (micro)mobility, urban planning and transportation related research, but also significantly advancing research in a variety of computing disciplines such as machine learning, computer vision and image processing, high-performance computing, big data analytics, and privacy enhancing technologies.
