SAMs 1.3.1 and 1.1.4; This NSF cooperative agreement, Innovation Corps Hubs Program. UTSA will utilize its variety of entrepreneurial resources to support the training and growth of a diverse community of innovators. UTSA will seek out and recruit eligible I-Corps Hubs teams and seek to increase the diversity of eligible teams accepted into the regional and national programs, specifically focused on the metrics of engaging women, Hispanic, veteran innovators and student entrepreneurs in the I-Corps program. UTSA will serve as a gateway to the San Antonio region innovation ecosystem, conducting outreach and deploying programs for diverse, deep-tech teams in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Team recruitment strategies will be specifically directed towards preparing teams of undergraduate students across disciplines and pairing them with innovative technology developers comprising faculty and graduate-level students. These teams with further be paired with business mentors and advanced business, entrepreneurship students and trainees with a focus on broadening diversity in such recruitment. Finally, partnerships with government technology research spaces and military innovation needing I-Corps based validation of value proposition will also be engaged through partner team recruitment. Regional Training -UTSA will recruit for and deploy regional programs, compile data and metrics as needed, and focus efforts to broaden participation among minority serving institutions and other underrepresented minorities in the region. UTSA’s training activities will be designed to support the validation of the commercial viability with a final goal of initiating customer discovery and qualifying teams for application to the national NSF I-Corps™ program. Hub Teaching Team-UTSA will support the national I-Corps™ teaching team by offering instructor(s), adjunct(s) and teaching assistant(s) who support the I-Corps™ methodology both regionally and nationally. UTSA will utilize its variety of entrepreneurial resources to support the training and growth of a diverse community of innovators.
