Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; The main goal of this research project is to update the designs of standard Texas DOT prestress girders to incorporate 300 ksi 0.6-inch diameter strands. TxDOT would also like to examine any important prestressed member behavior aspects with using prestressing strand that is stressed to a higher level of force. These aspects include bond, bursting requirements, and development/transfer. The expected benefits are more economical bridges that can span longer distances in a given depth. Findings from this research shall include: 1) test date on full-scale girder specimens with 300ksi strands, 2) final designs for standard TX girder sections using 300ksi strands, as well as for trial 82 and 84 in. deep sections, and 3) design provisions for presented girders using 300ksi strands.
