Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; This research subcontract with Triad National Security (Los Alamos) and United States Department of Energy National Nuclear Security will have specific expertise with sample fabrication to facilitate the observation of the combined effects of irradiation damage and corrosion as the presence of grain boundaries and varied grain orientations are present. We will contribute to isolating corrosion effects in static testing in addition to fabricating large grain samples of simple binary alloys, to be metallurgically prepared for use in irradiation and corrosion experiments (ICE). Finally, we will probe the role of microstructure, specifically the dynamic coupling between radiation and corrosion enhanced transport along GBs and migration of the GBs themselves. It is anticipated that the research results from this Subcontract shall be published in open literature. PI, post-doc, and GRA effort budgeted.
