Note:
SAMs 1.1.1 In this project, the PIs will leverage their prior research contributions to performance testing for virtual machine-based cloud deployments to design performance testing frameworks for serverless applications. Serverless applications present significant new research challenges due to their extremely high scalability and the use of workflows. More specifically, the performance data obtained from simultaneous invocations of individual or a workflow of serverless applications are inherently correlated. Existing cloud performance testing techniques relied on advance statistical tools, which assume no correlation in the data from cloud performance tests. Therefore, existing techniques are inaccurate and costly when applied to serverless applications. To address the scalability and workflow challenges that serverless applications set forth to their accurate performance testing, the PIs propose to design novel performance testing frameworks that will utilize correlation-aware, non-parametric statistical tools.
