Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; In this research project, we propose methods based on passive and active Internet measurements to quantify the severity of IoT maliciousness by empirically characterizing the magnitude of Internet-scale IoT exploitations, Internet-wide fingerprinting of infected IoT devices in real-time, attributing related malware binaries, and curating related forensic artifacts (e.g., recent IoT malware binaries, new IoT exploits, aim of the adversaries, attack steps, anti-honeypot techniques, etc.). In comparison to the typical, heavily restricted, currently accessible IoT honeypots, such a large vantage point is capable of providing an incomparably massive and prompt view into the IoT cyber security posture. The research findings will be collected and analyzed.
