Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; Recent studies have demonstrated various violations of social media-defined online hate policies caused by these new waves of online hate, and the ramifications of these violations are felt even in the real world. In particular, the limitations of existing social media platforms in moderating the new waves of online hate have received increasing attention. This research advances the frontiers of knowledge in defending against online hate, by practically addressing the problem of new waves of online hate, including an in-depth understanding of this problem, new approaches to detect violations caused by this problem, and its moderation on social media platforms. To demonstrate the practicality and feasibility of the proposed solutions, the project will implement and evaluate the proposed defense mechanisms against data collected from real-world social media platforms.
