Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; The main goal of this research project is to experimentally investigate the reaction mechanism and structure-activity relationship of single atoms supported by transition metal carbides (TMCs) and transition metal nitrides (TMNs) model catalyst surfaces for aqueous-phase reforming of methanol (APRM) at an atomic level. The research team will have combine theory calculations, ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) based experiments, and powder catalytic testing in more applied conditions, to systematically study catalytic properties, key reaction steps, sites, and intermediates, as well as the stability of the well-defined TMCs and TMNs supported single-atom bifunctional catalysts. The team lead by Dr. Fang Xu contributes to the UHV experimental parts, a critical part to verify the theoretical predictions and to provide insights into catalyst design.
