Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Evaluating the Urban Heat Mitigation Potential of the San Antonio Cool Pavement Pilot
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
City of San Antonio - Texas
CFDA: 0
Program Title: none
Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is partnering with the City of San Antonio (COSA) to quantitatively evaluate the urban heat mitigation potential of the COSA cool pavement pilots that will be installed during the Spring of 2023. The research project will involve fieldwork to collect various temperature and atmospheric variables, which will be analyzed to better understand how the cool pavement influences the local thermal environment during various times of day. The proposed work will collect net radiation measurements, surface temperatures, air temperatures, and wet bulb globe temperatures during the Summer of 2023 to comprehensively assess the performance of the cool pavement pilot installations relative to a typical asphalt street.
