Note:
SAMS 1.1.1; This research project will study the effects of social engineering attacks on the refugee and asylee population by studying the linguistic triggers associated with these attacks. The fundamental research question we would like to answer in this project is how does our target population (refugees and asylees who have resettled in the U.S. for less than 5 years) respond to social engineering attacks? Specifically, what linguistic traits associated with these attacks play the role of a trigger in getting the target population to respond (positively) to these scams? We will create phishing emails/vishing call datasets, develop custom email and voice call sending and tracking software and systems, analyze the collected data from the various studies, and develop and deliver education material to the target population (refugees). In addition, we will assist in reporting tasks and research manuscript preparation and submission.
