Note:
SAMs 1.1.1 In this research project, a luminescent Zr(IV)- based MOF will be synthesized, by incorporating highly fluorescent π-conjugated donor-acceptor-donor oligomers. The color of these oligomers can be easily tuned from blue and green all the way to the near infrared spectral range just by changing the strength of the acceptor unit. These structures are expected to exhibit the following unique properties: high thermal stability (up to 300 0C), soluble in seawater, high fluorescence quantum yield, permanently porous, chemically robust, small crystal size (less than 150 nm) to form stable suspension for long time, making them excellent candidates for chemical sensing or as tracers for the upstream oil industry.
