Note:

SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.3.1 The Overall Goal of the proposed project is to build a statewide network supporting the advancement of evidence-based Basic Needs Initiatives (BNI) to improve Student Success in Texas Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Project will achieve goal through 3 objectives. The first will identify current BNI assessment practices in Texas HSIs through structured interviews with Administrators at the 66 HSIs in Texas. The second objective is to increase institutional capacity to engage in effective and robust monitoring and evaluating of BNI's impact on Student Success at 10% of HSIs in Texas. We will work with the HSIs to support the development and refinement of their BNI assessment practices, including data collection and the use of methodological approaches to examine causal links between BNI and Student Success. The third objective is to build a statewide network of colleges and universities to support the advancement of evidence-based BNI to improve Student Success. This will be achieved through a statewide BNI and Student Success Symposium. The dissemination plan includes the symposium, published proceedings, and peer-reviewed journal articles. This will disseminate information on evidence-based practices so that other institutions, within and beyond Texas, can find guidance in the development and implementation of their own BNI and Student Success assessments.
