SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.1.4; This research project will conduct an empirical study of the digital divide if San Antonio, TX. The research study will utilize a mixed methodological approach, which involves descriptive, impact, and outcome-oriented research, collecting both quantitative and qualitative data. First, since it is necessary to measure progress, or the lack thereof, the creation of a second-generation electronic survey in English and Spanish, in collaboration with COSA office of innovation, to measure access to the internet, devices, and digital literacy. Second, the project will evaluate the impact on special populations like previously digital disconnected ZIP codes, older citizens, and microenterprises. Lastly, qualitative data will be collected via in-depth interviews with special populations.
