Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
City of San Antonio - Texas
CFDA: 0
Program Title: none
Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; This research project will use available climate data to identify neighborhoods where the city might want to target heat mitigation measures. This data will be run through spatial and aspatial algorithms we have developed to account for overall heat and risk of adverse health outcomes associated with heat. The algorithms can account for a variety of definitions of vulnerable populations including age, race, and income to account for both equity and overall health risk. The algorithms identify the best locations for heat adaptation or mitigation measures. Heat calculations will be based on remotely sensed temperature data from 2022. This information will be combined with socioeconomic vulnerability from the ACS 5-year estimate from 2017-2021 to calculate vulnerability. In addition to providing this data in a tabular form, we will also create a static map image representing the vulnerability index. We will also describe all of these processes, methodologies, and datasets, and provide references in an executive report, along with recommendations for heat mitigation
