Note:
SAMs 1.1.1; The primary goal of this proposed project is to investigate and implement computer vision technologies for productivity and safety management in steel manufacturing. The specific objectives of the proposed research project are to 1) characterize the production processes and safety activities in steel manufacturing plants for computer vision application; 2) identify the applicable computer vision technologies and techniques for productivity and safety management in steel manufacturing plants; 3) conduct a pilot case study to implement computer vision technologies for productivity and safety management in a steel manufacturing plant, and; 4) propose best practices for implementing computer vision technologies for productivity and safety management in steel manufacturing plants. These objectives will be achieved using a series of sequential tasks described in this research proposal. It is expected that the implementation of computer vision technologies can help to increase the accuracy and timeliness of decision-making for productivity and safety management in steel manufacturing.
