Note:
SAMs 1.3.1; The objective of this study is to conduct three linked research projects on the economic consequences of inequities within California's schools. Each project will focus on a specific domain - (I) discipline, (II) absenteeism, and (III) high school outcomes - to calculate in money terms the economic burdens of inequities across student groups. Analysis will be performed state-wide and for participating schools. Similar methods will be used for each project. In combination, the projects will provide a comprehensive picture of how resources are allocated within school systems and of how educational opportunities are being denied to many students. This research will provide education professionals with important and novel information and evidence to improve decision-making. For each project, the research deliverables will include: a final report formatted as a research monograph containing all evidence on data, interviews and research analysis; school-specific benchmark reports for MTSS participating schools; non-technical briefs with graphics for 2-3 selected audiences; webinars and in-person presentations to 2-3 professional groups; social media dissemination and press interviews to communicate results.
