Note:

SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.1.4; The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Center for Archaeological Research (CAR), in response to a request from VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority proposes to conduct Archaeological Investigations, antiquities permit acquisition, archaeological monitoring, and backhoe trench investigations for the VIA Metro Transit - Busing Charging Site Project, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. The principal goal of the project is to monitor for cultural resources and analyze any research findings collected. While VIA believes no archaeological sites have been recorded within the APE, the area is adjacent to San Pedro Creek and just south of San Pedro Springs. Native Americans intermittently utilized both of these locales in excess of 10,000 years. For this reason, there is a high probability of buried prehistoric materials within the APE. Upon review of the project APE UTSA-CAR staff shall determine if participation in subsurface excavation is necessary to satisfy City of San Antonio (COSA) permit requirements.
