SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.1.4, Approved in FY22 RRE ID 101709; The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Center for Archaeological Research (CAR), in response to a request from Adams Environmental Inc. (AEI), proposes to conduct an archaeological survey of a linear tract in west Bexar County. The principal goal of the project is to monitor for cultural resources and analyze any research findings collected. Conduct a systematic and intensive archaeological survey, with shovel testing, to search for and assess cultural resources in the project area identified in Figure 1. Work will meet or exceed THC and Council of Texas Archaeological standards for linear surveys. The project area covers a roughly 1-kilometer long, 10-meter wide strip. CAR proposes to conduct a 100% pedestrian survey of this area and place a minimum of 10 shovel tests along the proposed alignment. Any recovered artifacts and project-related materials, including the interim report, will be permanently stored at the CAR’s curation facility. The CAR Laboratory Supervisor, in conjunction with the Project Archaeologist, will oversee these activities. A Laboratory Technician will be required to assist with the efforts.
