SAMs 1.1.1 The research project focuses on developing a digital design and fabrication approach to creating a shading structure for softer levels of intervention (e.g. textile shading) at the downtown location of Legacy Park, San Antonio . The goal is to produce a case study project highlighting the benefits of digital design and fabrication for shading structures. Its purpose is to determine a material-efficient distribution of shading areas and identify digital fabrication technology application barriers. The case study aims to develop an overarching methodology of digital design methods, fabrication processes, and material systems embedded in making a building demonstrator for a shading canopy at Legacy Park.
