SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.1.4, Approved in FY22 RRE ID 101709; CAR proposes to conduct additional archaeological testing and monitoring on an ongoing archaeological survey in an existing transmission corridor prior to the replacement of transmission towers on CPS owned property in southeast Bexar County. The principal goal of the project is to monitor for cultural resources and analyze any research findings collected. Archaeological fieldwork: Four shovel tests; One 1 x 1 m test unit; Mechanical scraping of two backhoe trenches (15 x 3.3 x 5 ft.) spaced evenly across a 15x15 ft. area west of Tower 48 and shovel testing of any anomalies within the trenches; Monitoring of excavations associated with the installation of Tower 48.Task B. Archival Research Review extant literature including maps and landownership histories to support a National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility recommendation for Field Sites 4 and 12.Task C.
