PENDING 1.1.1 The second part of the Measuring, Mapping, and Managing Flood Risk in Texas planning study (“M3FR2”) will improve flood risk communication by integrating multiple types of hydrologic and hydraulic models. The Grantee shall undertake this study to improve upon the Damage Plain as a communication tool that accurately conveys flood risk to users. The completed M3FR2 shall, at a minimum, contain the following: A synthesis of existing hydrological and hydraulic models and the information that they can produce; An understanding of the types of messaging and visualizations that will stimulate more resilient policies and behaviors; The development of a flood risk communication tool that can be implemented at the local or regional level to help residents or decision makers reduce the adverse impact of floods; and an analysis for scaling the developed tool for broad implementation. The first part of the Measuring, Mapping, and Managing Flood Risk in Texas, (“M3FR1”) planning study was approved in FY2020 (81517). The awarding sponsor and PI have changed from part I.
