Note:
SAMs 1.1.1 - "This project seeks to expand our fundamental understanding of processes underlying the electrification of clouds, as well as the global electric circuit (GEC), with linkages between electrified clouds, lightning, and the ionosphere, as well as monitoring the variation of electrified clouds in the Arctic under a changing climate....In this project, we seek to reduce the uncertainties in the relationship between individual cloud properties, electrification, and Wilson currents; to examine the Wilson currents from extra-tropical cloud systems by analyzing recent field campaign observations and estimate their contributions globally; to collect electric field observations and monitor the variation of electrified clouds within the Arctic Circle at Barrow, Alaska where electric field measurements can be made relatively undisturbed from current sources...."
