Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: MRI: Acquisition of a Purge and Trap Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer for Compound/Position-Specific Applications in Biogeochemistry and Ecological Studies at TAMU Corpus Christi
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
National Science Foundation
CFDA: 47.083
Program Title: none
Note:
SAMs 1.4.4 - "...This proposal requests funds to purchase a purge and trap isotope ratio mass spectrometer (PT-IRMS) for nitrogen (N) isotope measurement of nitrous oxide converted from amino acids (AAs), ammonium, and nitrate. This PT-IRMS will enable compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA) in both inorganic and organic N (e.g. AAs) in one location, which will bring new analytical capabilities to TAMUCC. To our best knowledge, there is no dedicated PT-IRMS for advanced N isotope ( 15N) analysis in aforementioned specific N-bearing compounds in Texas. This instrument will make a fundamental contribution to TAMUCC’s goal of achieving national and international prominence in research with a strategic location on the Gulf of Mexico (GoMex)...."
