SAMs 1.1.4. - "...A number of PORTS® stations have been enhanced in a similar fashion to withstand the effects of hurricanes that are frequently experienced in this region. These PORTS® are equipped with one or a combination of the following: water level, air gap, current meter, and meteorological sensors. The PORTS® provides accurate and reliable oceanographic and environmental data from locations within the local maritime community to enhance navigation safety, hazardous material spill response, search and rescue operations, and environmental management. One vital component to the success of the PORTS® is the continued operation and maintenance of the system...."
