Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Defining suspended sediment tolerance thresholds for Caribbean Endangered Species Act (ESA)and/or Stoney Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) susceptible corals
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
Florida Department of Environmental Protection
Program Title: none
Note:
SAMs 1.1.1. - "Project Goals and Objectives: This study will investigate the effects of dredged sediment impacts on the growth, survival, and health of scleractinian corals. The goals of this project are to determine the turbidity tolerance thresholds of dominant corals species to suspended sediment. The objectives of this project are to: 1) Examine the effect of fine-grain suspended sediment on the metabolism, health, and growth of selected Florida coral species. 2) Conduct acute sediment exposure experiments to produce coral metabolic response curves. 3) Define the turbidity tolerance threshold (measured in Nephelometric Turbidity Units [NTU]) of corals..."
