SAMs 1.1.1. - 1. Collect, process, and interpret CHIRP sub-bottom data. 2. Assist with sample collection (sediment coring, core splitting, subsampling for additional analyses). 3. Collect discrete X-ray fluorescence measurements in cores to quickly locate core intervals with elevated levels of Hg or other environmental pollutants. 4. Oversee the calculation of age and accumulation rate from sediment radioisotope data. 5. Complete the grain size analysis of sediment cores. 6. Advise one M.S. student at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi who will integrate parts 1 through 5 for their thesis. 7. Assist in all data analysis, manuscript writing, conference presentations, and writing interim and final reports to the MBMT. 8. Assist in all education and outreach.
