Note:
SAMs 1.1.1. - "...The proposed work involves development of a cutting-edge genetic tool and practical physiological tolerance information to enable fine-scale mapping and inexpensive, long-term monitoring of eastern oyster population structure in Texas. Combined, these will allow modeling of potential distributional changes due to changing environmental conditions, which will inform data-driven, adaptive management strategies for aquaculture, fisheries, and restoration programs. Experimental objectives of the proposed research are three-fold: 1) to design a cost-effective genetic marker panel to enable routine determination of the genetic origin of individual eastern oysters in Texas waters, 2) to use the new genetic marker panel to map at a fine spatial resolution the genetic transition zone between northern and southern Texas populations of eastern oysters, and 3) to understand physiological tolerances of northern and southern Texas eastern oysters, using experimental crosses and advanced respirometry...."
