SAMs 1.3.2 - "...Traditional monitoring techniques from manned aircraft can disturb birds and carry a risk of personal injury to the surveyor. However, photos taken from drones is a safer alternative, and one that causes less disturbance to birds if conducted in accordance with sound scientific practices. Currently, there is no systematic training on best scientific practices available to surveyors in Texas. Therefore, we propose to conduct a training workshop for practitioners on best practices in the use of drones for surveying nesting colonial waterbirds on the Texas coast...."
