Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Sugarcane bagasse effects on mechanical and mechanistic performance of hot mixed asphalt mixtures
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
United States Department of Agriculture
CFDA Link: USDA

Program Title:
Agricultural Research Service
CFDA Linked: Agricultural Research_Basic and Applied Research
Note:
Pending. SAMS 1.1.1. UT Tyler PI will test the feasibility of using sugarcane bagasse and boiler ash, waste products of sugar milling, as an additive for hot mixed asphalt mixtures. The bagasse will serve as a binder to improve the tensile strength of asphalt and prevent cracking that is usually a problem with road failure, and the ash replaces a small amount of the hot asphalt in the mixture reducint costs of road surfaces.
