VAST Academy VAST Academy provides post-secondary transition programs and comprehensive support services, which lead to meaningful credentials, employment and independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities(IDDs). IDD Services



INSTRUCTIONAL Services offered for students with IDD:


Houston Community College offers a specialized Transition Instructional Program for students with IDD: Vocational Advancement and Skills Training (VAST Academy)at 3 of it's College Campus locations throughout the District. Houston Community College Career Services works closely with it's VAST Academy to assist students with career and employment services, through career and employment services workshops, and in collaboration with a full-time VAST Academy Employment Program Director.

Volunteer work

Community Service

Work study

Coaching

Person-centered planning

Workforce Career Readiness curriculum and courses, that include career exploration, job search, professionalism in the workplace, communications and human relations skills. Career and employment services are provided that include weekly virtual workshops, a job club, and job placement assistance.



ADDITIONAL Services  offered for students with IDD:


Additional services are provided through a special program, "VAST Academy".
