Adult Community Education Services Transition Program Launched in August 2016, this pilot program (A.I.M.) in collaboration with Goose Creek Independent School District is for students, aged 18+, who are either IDD or on the Autism Spectrum. Students are referred to this adult transition program, where the community serves as the classroom. The program is designed to increase independence of adult students with disabilities and maximize their potential to become active members of their community. Life Skills for Intellectually Disabled Students Designed for the developmentally disabled adult to enrich and enhance adult life, this course provides students with a wide variety of skills, including functional skills in computer technology, basic math and reading, and leisure time activities. Students must be 21 years of age or older and NOT enrolled in public school. Beginners and/or returning students welcome. Scenario A- case management; additional tutoring based on specific areas of deficit including social skills and modeling, job shadowing Scenario B- This course will provide students with a wide variety of skills including functional skills in computer technology, basic math and reading skills, and leisure time activities.
