Note:
There is a need for lightweight and lower cost high temperature materials used in for funnels, distributers and molds used in advanced manufacturing. UTEP will develop a process for additive manufacturing of refractory based materials using novel hybrid processing methods. We will perform a literature review on additive manufacturing of refractory materials including fiber filament consolidation, fused metal deposition, direct ink write and other methods. Finally, we will establish a conceptual workflow for additive manufacturing and post-processing of refractory metal customized designs.
