1. To recover and preserve the history of El Paso's Segundo Barrio and South Central El Paso, two historic barrios with local, state, and national significance, through documenting the memories and family histories of former and current residents. 2. To increase public awareness and appreciation of the rich history of El Paso's barrios locally, state-wide, and nationally. 3. To make available a new digitized collection of barrio-centered oral histories and transcripts that will engage community members, including barrio residents and those whose family histories in the United States originated in these barrio.
