SAMs 1.1.2. - "...This research will (1) develop an enhanced conceptual model of the coastal system that explain the relationships between GSF and dune morphology, and (2) enhance the prediction of Padre Island responses to natural forces. Stakeholders and managers will be able to use the project results to (1) limit coastal development in areas that are highly susceptible to breaching, (2) define coastal areas that need current or future engineering protection activities (e.g., dune restoration, shoreline stabilization), and (3) develop sustainable mitigation scenarios to natural forces while preserving the unique nature of valuable coastal resources...."
